Great news for Vtiger CRM users! The latest Vtiger CRM 8.4 has been released, This update is a big step forward for your CRM. Think of it as giving your system a major tune-up behind the scenes, making everything run smoother and more securely. This update addressed a total of 33 items, with the vast majority – 29 of them – now successfully implemented. So, what does that mean for you?

Better Protection: The team battened down the hatches, making logins more secure and tackling common vulnerabilities like “CSV Injection” and “XSS” that, in rare cases, could allow exploitation. This means we better protect your data against sneaky attacks.

Database Stability: For those running Vtiger on MariaDB, Vtiger resolved a pesky “Foreign Key Constraint” error, leading to more stable and reliable database performance.

Seamless Migrations: If you’re upgrading, particularly from older 8.3 versions, you’ll find a smoother transition, with issues like missing database fields during Mail Converter migration now taken care of.

Smoother Workflows

Many of the fixes in 8.4.0 are about polishing the rough edges you might have encountered in your day-to-day tasks

• Email Communication Made Easy: This update fixes issues with outgoing email server settings (especially beyond Gmail), emails not sending to multiple recipients, and “assign user-email” workflows failing.. Even the little pop-up for email details in the mail view is working perfectly again.
• Calendar Reliability: The issues previously encountered when configuring recurring events and utilizing the recurring type picklist have been resolved. These improvements significantly enhance the reliability of scheduling within the system.
• Effortless Data Entry: Vtiger implemented minor yet significant corrections to ensure text areas and URL fields update accurately.. Additionally, default values are now consistently respected, even when the predefined value is zero.
• User Interface Polish: Navigation within the detail view has been restored to optimal fluidity. Furthermore, layout inconsistencies, including those observed in the quick create menu and with specific field types (e.g., UIType 10), have been rectified, resulting in a more polished and coherent visual presentation.
• Smarter Permissions: Vtiger adjusted user visibility based on role configurations, ensuring that “Can Assign Records To” settings work as intended. They also resolved general “permission denied” issues for standard profiles.

Underlying System Optimization

While these modifications may not be immediately apparent, they are crucial for maintaining the overall integrity and optimal performance of the CRM system.

• This update also made sure that workflow issues with document loading are now handled smoothly.
