This problem is also faced in VTiger CRM. Let’s take an example and set up SMTP for gmail using app password
How to get app password??
App password is only available on those email I.D’s which have enabled 2-Step verification. to get the app password follow the instructions mentioned below
Log into your Gmail account
Click on the manage account google account
A new window will open, select security option
Scroll down and select app password
It will again ask for the email id and password, provide it and then it will take you to the app password generation page
Select app: Use the drop down menu. In Vtiger’s case it will be set to custom and provide a name for the app. In case of custom app the select device field will be removed.
Select Device: Use the drop down menu to select the device on which you will be using the app.
Finally click on the generate app password
App password is generate and is shown in the orange box highlighted in red box
How to use app password in Vtiger
Use this app password to set SMTP
While configuring the SMTP or outgoing server use the app password instead of the password to set it up
Upon saving, the outgoing server/SMTP is set up successfully
