This guide will walk you step by step through the procedure of migration of VTiger 6.2 to VTiger 6.3. Create a Backup of VTiger Database

Acquire the Patch File for VTiger 6.3 Upgrade
Place the Files in VTiger CRM Directory
Now that you have the files required for the upgrade, you’ll need to put them in the right place. If your CRM’s directory is /var/www/vtigercrm/, place the files in /var/www/vtigercrm/. Then, extract the downloaded file in the same folder, as the extracted files are meant to be put in /var/www/vtigercrm/. Now find the vtiger6.zip file. It should be among the extracted files. Modify its permissions to ‘777’. It can be accomplished via FTP/SSH or CPanel.
Upgradation of CRM Version from 6.2 to 6.3
After successfully completing the preparations for migration, you are all set to perform the main procedure. Carefully follow the instructions below to execute the upgrade:
- Browse your VTiger in the browser (use any one of Chrome or Firefox, avoid Internet Explorer)
- Log out from your VTiger account (it’s mandatory)
- Delete the browser’s cache
- Copy paste this link in the browser’s bar http://www.yourvtigercrm.com/migrate/
- It is the migration page. Confirm the following checklist:
- Check “I have taken the backup of database”
- Check “I have taken the backup of source folder”
- Enter admin’s username, usually it’s ‘admin’, unless you disabled it.
- Enter the password
- Click “Start Migration”
After the 5th step, migration process will begin. The only information it provides during the process is what loading bar saying, “Please wait… Migration in progress”. If your database is average sized, it should not take more that 5-10 minutes (it varies sometimes, so there is no need to worry).
After the completion of the upgrade, migration log will be displayed to you. You can use it as your checklist and make sure that every aspect was executed successfully. Click “Next” if everything went okay.
Followed by log is the summary page, that simply confirms the successful execution of the migration procedure. Press the “Finish” button and the all new VTiger version 6.3 will be available for you.
