For upgrading it you need the patch files from the official VTiger website. Then copy the patch files in the required directory and finally run the migration wizard. 1.Make a backup of CRM database

Mostly people make backup of their data as a precaution, but for us it is a necessary step and should be carried out with the utmost priority.

2. Patch files

Download the VTiger CRM 7.1 patch files from the official website. The address of the official website is need website address of VTiger https://www.vtiger.com/open-source-crm/download-open-source/

3. Upgradation pre-stage

It is a critical step, make sure to paste the downloaded patch files in correct VTiger CRM directory. Moreover, the address of directory depends upon your hosting provider.

By default, the VTiger directory look like  “/var/www/vtigercrm/”. Make sure to copy downloaded patch files in this directory.

After that extract vtigercrm-60x-700-patch.zip, it will ask you to overwrite data in multiple folders (migrate, modules, Migration)- allow it to overwrite the files.

Next, change the permissions of vtiger7.zip to “777” using FTP/SSH client or the CPanel.

For unix servers, just do ‘chmod -R 777 vtiger7.zip’

4.Time to upgrade VTiger CRM (7.0.1>7.1)

• Go to your migrate link https://www.yourvtigercrm.com/migrate/.
  • Select “I have taken the backup of database”
  • select “I have taken the backup of source folder”
  • Provide Admin’s username, if not disabled
  • Type your password
  • Press “Start Migration”

Note: once you start the migration, there is a possibility that system will ask you for your login details. In this case, repeat the step 4 and you are good to go.

There is no definite time frame for the migration process to complete. Usually is takes about 5-10 minutes, it also depends on your database size that how much time will it take to complete. On completion system will show a post-upgrade log. If some errors arise during migration it will be displayed in post-upgrade log.
